Sunt foarte surprins de sucesul pe care l-am avut cu pagina uberVU de pe Facebook. Fara nici un fel de promovare si am ajuns la 60 de fani. Asa ca am facut si pentru CaptainGO.

Acum mai trebuie sa vedem cum folosim acest canal. A avut cineva experinte placute/proaste cu adurile de pe Facebook?

De luna trecuta Adrian conduce operatiunile de zi cu zi la Metromind. Nu puteam fi mai fericiti cu un alt coleg si suntem siguri ca Adi va face o treaba exceptionala. Se anunta lucruri remarcabile. Fiti pe faza.

Primul articol in Jurnal de Startup

Acum 2 saptamani va spuneam ca e posibil sa scriu la Startups.ro. Ei bine…. azi a aparut prima mea incercare de articol in Startups la Jurnal de start-up. Unde voi scrie saptamanal despre experientele mele antreprenoriale. Evident daca exista ceva interes. Apropo, despre ce ati vrea sa scriu in articolele viitoare?

Am fost in Amsterdam sa ne prezentam jucaria. Povestea scurta. A fost foarte interesant. Am cunoscut o multime de vedete din Silicon Valley si de antreprenori vestici. Dar am dat si pentru prima oara de problema de a fi roman.

Prima poveste:
Cu cateva zile inainte de conferinta Mike Butcher scrie despre noi pe Techcrunch UK: Companie romaneasca care vrea sa faca multe chestii SF. Errrr. Ok. Vine si conferinta. Eu imi fac speechul. Nu a fost cea mai buna performanta dar e primul meu speech in fata a 1000 de oameni. Oricum in mare parte bine. Dupa ce ma dau jos de pe scena ma abordeaza Erick Schonfeld, de la Techcrunch USA. Imi spune ca ii place ce facem si ca ar vrea sa se joace cu uberVU ca sa ne faca un review. Se joaca cu produsul, ne da feedback, ii spunem in ce stadiu suntem (nu foarte avansat). Ne recomanda sa rezolvam niste probleme si sa ne facem infrastructura mai solida. Si cand suntem gata sa-i dam mail si 1000 de invitatii ca sa faca un review. Super cool.

In acelasi timp Mike Butcher de la versiunea uk avea reviewul gata: Companie romaneasca care vrea sa faca multe chestii SF. Errrr. Prezentare de cacao..Adica acelasi lucru ca acum o sapt + faptul ca prezentarea e de cacao. Ok. Stiu ca nu am avut o super prezentare asa ca ma duc cu laptopul langa el in timpul unei pauze sa-i arat ce facem. Daca mai scrie de noi macar sa stie ce scrie. El nu: “A voi sunteti aia din Romania.”; “Nu trebuie sa vad nimic. Nu ma intereseaza. Stiu tot.” Imi venea sa-l strang de gat.

A doua poveste:
Cineva ne spunea cat de mult ii place softul. Ne intreaba de unde suntem. Ii zicem ca din Romania. Si el foarte surprins ne intreaba daca noi avem ce manca acolo ca sa ne ocupam de net.

Si alte chestii de acest fel.

Piata de publishing de la noi s-a imbnatatit cu un nou site: startups.ro. Este un portal dedicat micilor afaceri si antreprenorilor, un proiect initiat de o ziarista cu foarte mare experienta: Crsitina Alexandru. Multa bafta!

PS: Un post foarte interesant la Madalin Durca, despre prieteni si clienti.

Think experience. Talk experience. Look at examples of experience. Analyze those examples. Then get on with it… and remember:

  1. This is not a semantic quibble. It is the essence of life in the new economy.
  2. Billion$ upon bilion$ upon bilion$ are at stake for giant companies. And relatively speaking, the same high stakes  apply to the individual accountant… or the beaver trapper turned Wildlife Damage Control Professional.

Ok …. I won another entrepreneurship award. That’s cool but some of you got it wrong. Because I am not the one to take all the credit for CaptainGO. Lavi is the man with the plan and I am only glad to help him. Here is the story.

About a year ago Lavinius called me and asked me to go out and have a beer. I say ok. I knew Lavi for like 3 years, when we were part of team in a VIP event (it was yet another entrepreneurship contest that… of course we won ). Since then Lavinus was struggling with a web developing company and I founded Metromind. Lavinius told me about a business plan, that he had won a business plan contest with, about a Romanian booking system and he asked me to give him feedback on the plan.

I did…. in a never ending email I told him that the plan is a the worst business plan ever. That’s because, like most of you, I had this idea of a tourism reservation system “way before Lavinius” and knew how freaking complicated this is. Anyway…. it was a really really crazy plan…. I thought. Signing in hundreds of hotels is crazy! But I am not the brightest man around because I said: “Man… I know that you have a stupid plan and so little cash …. but I want in: I know some stuff about web and marketing and you could use my skills since you don’t quite afford a lot of consultants.” And he said yes.

So in the last year we have been working to make the this business take off. I did my part but Lavi is who should take all the credit (and trust me doing all the management it is not very funny) Like Dragos, I realized that the only way you can change things is to help people who can make it happen. And most of the time they will help you back.

PS: We finished the system and signed in a lot of hotels. It took us about a year.

Facebook vs LinkedIn

I found an interesting article debating the usefulness of LinkedIn vs Facebook when it comes to business networking.  However I don’t agree with the author at all. For me LinkedIn is just a place to pile some contacts that I already know and interact more or less in real life. When it comes to meeting new people LinkedIn’s system is pretty much useless. I am wrong? How do you actually use LinkedIn?

Sunetele succesului

Ce faci daca esti o companie mica formata dintr-un om care lucreaza acasa (am fost si noi odata asa :) ) …. Pe Internet chestia asta se intampla destul de des mai ales in prmele faze ale biznisului…. si te suna un potential client important? Daca se aud manelele veciunului de deasupra sau cand te striga mama la masa? Nu-i bai. Dai drumul la CD-ul cu sunete de birou. Ce idee….

Ma gandesc ca daca la americani prinde la noi ar trebui sa fie super hit, tinand cont de fitzele multor companii care cer pretigiu de la partenerii lor mai mult decat calitate.
